PTZ Camera System: 5 things to know before purchase
PTZ cameras or Pan-Tilt-Zoom security cameras are built with the help of mechanical parts and
hardware that allows them to swivel left to right, tilt up and down, and zoom
in and out of the respective scene. They’re ordinarily used to monitor wide
open vast areas requiring a 180-degree or 360-degree view, and deployed in
varying guard stations where active personnel service can be operated by them
through a remote camera controller. Depending on the model of the PTZ security
camera, they can also be set to automatically follow motion or detection sensor
activity and adhere to a pre-scheduled by the user. PTZ camera systems are
generally implemented in integration with a larger surveillance system,
in which the PTZ tracks every movement and provides complete monitoring of wide
areas.
- Field of view-
Field of view depends on the mounting and deployment location of the
security camera, but majorly a PTZ security camera
can be deployed in any location as it is capable to capture and record the
full 360-degree area by its rotation in all the desired directions. These
advanced features integrated with these security cameras minimize the
blinds spots and hence the need to install multiple security cameras is also eliminated, making them
ideal and scalable to cover wide areas such as rooftops, malls,
playgrounds, and parking lots, etc.
- Motion Tracking-
Modern PTZ security cameras come with the motion detection feature
integrated. This gives an added advanced security feature as the motion
detection sensor will detect any kind of movement in its field of view and
result in the automatically pan, tilt or zoom of security camera and
follow all the movements or security breaches around them.
- Power Zoom and Auto
Focus- Nowadays PTZ camera system is embedded with a powerful
zoom feature of range approx 12x to 40x. This helps get clear-cut data
even when the object is farther away from the security camera, also the
camera can sometimes be deployed out of sight while still being able to
capture clear-cut images. Most PTZ cameras are
already integrated with the Autofocus feature that adjusts the IR lens of
the camera by itself and focuses only on the clarity of the captured data
even in total darkness. This feature helps to get a good quality image or
video data in any light condition.
- Weather & Waterproof- Due to technological advancements the PTZ cameras are becoming an ideal choice for monitoring large outdoor surveillance areas such as playgrounds, campuses and parking lots, etc. This is also because most of the PTZ security cameras manufactured in recent times are weather-proof and can withstand harsh weather conditions or extreme temperatures
- Tamper-proof- Ideally, the PTZ security cameras are usually deployed high above the ground level. This not only assists in their 360-degree movement for all-over coverage of the surveillance area but also makes them full resistant to vandalism or tampering.
